Wow how time flies!!

It was just the other day and school started. Here we are and Thanksgiving is next week. Where does the time go? It seems I'm not able to sit down and collect my thoughts. So much going on.

Work has been a political nightmare and school takes much discipline for me as well as BB. Here's the first day of school, new school and new kids.

We were fortunate to get BB in a good school. She has had some fun stuff to do. Getting to cheer at one of the football games.

We got to meet Flat Stanley and bring him home for a week and then send him off to visit a great friend of mine,Lynette. He got to pack up and go stay with Lynette for a week and see what happens at their house. He also got to spend a day playing with us at the amusement park.

Next thing on the to do list is Christmas shopping. I'm not much of a shopper. My kind of shopping is buying on the internet and having it sent to the house. The warm weather here has dampened the feeling of fall. Traditionally it needs to be cold to start Christmas shopping and get into the spirit. It will get done though, all in time.

Our family celebrated my son's 25th birthday and we had a great time with all the kids. My Dad's health has not been well, but that night he was feeling better. He gladly made a comment that he felt everyone in our immediate family was at peace with themselves. This was a big statement for our family. Many years can be claimed disfunctional, but that's what has taught us many lessons. Sad to say though, there are some who have many lessons to be learned. You can't tell someone and expect changes, they must see it for themselves.

The youngest 4 should have a fun time this year for Christmas. Now, I like to shop for the little ones. Anything excites them. Just to see a Christmas tree is grand.

Better go for now. Maybe I won't be away so long the next time.

School Starts Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well here it is the middle of August and I still have JB and BB under foot. We thought very quickly about the camping in the tent experience and decided that it was in our best interest to stay home. I really had to justify this, underfoot at home or in the heat? I can bear it better in air conditioning. Well, we did get some shopping done. JB even bought me a new SUV. School clothes, shoes and a little bit of scrapbooking supplies thrown in too. Yip-py for me! I can't wait and as usual I'll probably get side tracked and not get to the scrapbooking.
We made it to open house for BB's school and ran into my 8th grade Civics teacher.(That was over 30 yrs ago!) He works at the new school that BB will be attending. He was also my bus driver and still remembered where I lived at that time he drove my bus. BB ran into some of the kids she has met at Daycare and was excited to see them. Hope it all turns out to be a good year.
On another note my little bit grandson will be starting Kindergarten this year. I can't believe I have a second grader at home and a grandson in Kindergarten.
Here's an idea I got from a website called www.creativeorganizing.typepad.com .Take all those pictures your children bring home and decopodge them to a painters canvas. Sizes of all varities. Picked up a couple of canvas on clearance at Michaels. I also have taken many of BB's pictures and projects and scanned into my computer so that I can download onto a CD someday. This will last forever and I can print them off as needed.
Saturday,Sunday, then Monday. School STARTS!!!!

The Courtyard

It seems like I've had JB and BB under foot the whole month of July. He finally got his first vacation and spent it working in the yard. That's whats kept me preoccupied and I'm truely ready for school to start and vacation to be over with .We do have one more vacation to take in August. We finally broke down and bought a tent. We are going to attempt to take BB diva to the lake and tent camp. I will be taking pictures. This should be very interesting. JB has already informed her that there won't be any TV. WHAT?

Anyway, here are some pictures of the front yard. We were here only 2 weeks and the neighbor guys were over asking JB how he got his grass so green and here so short of time. Fertilize! The guy next door jumps in his car and comes back and hard at it with fertilize. (Iron in the fertilize is the secret.)
Gotta go and finish up breakfast. Get haircuts today!

Creativity in Mind

How many more days until school starts? We're counting down. Since moving to a new town, we have had a few challenges. Brooklyn is looking forward to starting school and I'm looking forward to getting back into my creative world and junky craft room. I gather throughout the summer, more paper and supplies with excitement. Just ready to put them to use. Love to watch Lisa Bearnson on QVC. She gets me fired up and ready to start scrapping again. I can't wait until Stephanie's magazine comes out, Homegrown Hospitality. All you crafty girls out there need to get this one. www.homegrownhospitality.com

Checked with the local srapbook store for some classes, hoping for some girl time, adult conversation and a new project to start. They have a new calendar coming out the first week of August. I have to push myself and go do it. Sometimes just to stay safe in my little world. Plus I have so much junk to haul around. It can be convenient just to stay home also.

I'm slowly learning more about my computer and hope that I can post some of my stuff here to share. Need my friend Tiffany to come and show me how to do a lot of these things. I'm sure we could come up with something.
Have a great weekend!

Hand me down purses

Some forty years ago whenever life was much simpler,I would delight in the hand-me-down purse that my Granny would give me. It always had the smell of Wrigley's double mint gum, pennies jingling and green stamps just waiting to be added to a little girls notebook. All the compartments were so ideal and helped to keep the treasures in their places.

How life has changed and our treasured thoughts are now out there somewhere in computer limbo. Are they really on a hard copy or just resting in this imaginary paper world of computer land?

Thinking of the compartments makes me think of how rattled my brain gets sometimes and all those thoughts are flying around making sense but no sense. Journaling here will be a challenge for me because I always have several notebooks started and stored in each little compartment within that purse. I can start slowly so that I can look back and hopefully makes sense of what's going on in there.Ha! Things I would like to do,things I need to do and make some kind of impact. Being productive and focused. Wow! Wouldn't that be grand!

I guess starting over in a different notebook always gave me the ability to create things and thoughts differently. Always trying to improve or understand myself. Sometimes it takes talking out loud to hear yourself and explain it better. Light bulb moments are grand ya know.

I hope I can share with friends and family where I'm at within this new and interesting blog world. That not only challenges my creativity but also my poor journaling habits.

Have a great weekend!!
